  • 1 cup granulated sugar Gradually added
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Green food coloring A few drops for color

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until frothy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until the mixture reaches stiff peaks and is glossy.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring for a festive touch.
  6. Use a piping bag to pipe the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet in the shape of Christmas trees.
  7. Add candy decorations if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours or until the meringues are dry and lift easily from the parchment.
  2. Let them cool completely before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week; can be frozen for up to two months. Avoid refrigerating to maintain texture.
