Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until frothy.
- Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until the mixture reaches stiff peaks and is glossy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring for a festive touch.
- Use a piping bag to pipe the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet in the shape of Christmas trees.
- Add candy decorations if desired.
Baking
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours or until the meringues are dry and lift easily from the parchment.
- Let them cool completely before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week; can be frozen for up to two months. Avoid refrigerating to maintain texture.
