Ingredients

  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread, cubed Use any bread you prefer, such as sourdough or whole wheat.
  • 1 medium 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup butter Can substitute with olive oil for a vegan option.
  • 2 cups 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian dish.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon thyme
  • to taste Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery; sauté until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, broth, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for about 3-4 days. For long-term storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven.
