Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this aside.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the caramel chips and the chocolate chips, if using.
- Scoop the dough onto your prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Sprinkle each cookie with flaky sea salt before baking.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers will look soft.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
