Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls, then roll the balls in powdered sugar until well coated.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges look set and the tops are crinkled.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough longer if possible and use a cookie scoop for uniform sizes. You can substitute the red food coloring for another color to match your theme. Add chocolate chips for extra richness!
