Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and roast the garlic head wrapped in foil for 30-35 minutes until soft.
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until it’s foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and salt together.
- Make a well in the center, then add the yeast mixture along with the roasted garlic (squeeze out the cloves).
- Stir until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and fold in the Parmesan cheese.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a prepared baking pan; let it rise again for 30-60 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and enjoy.
Notes
This bread is best enjoyed fresh; if you have leftovers, store in an airtight bag for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. When ready to eat, reheat in the oven.
