Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with foil for easy cleanup.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir in taco seasoning, tomato sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Assembly and Baking
- Fill each taco shell with the meat mixture, sprinkle generously with cheese, and place them standing side by side in the baking dish.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and tacos are lightly crispy.
Finishing Touches
- Remove from the oven and top with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Add sour cream, guacamole, or hot sauce if desired.
Notes
These tacos are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but they can be stored in the fridge for about 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave when ready to eat. Try using black beans or lentils for a vegetarian version!
