  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup macaroni pasta Cooked according to package instructions
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with pepper jack cheese for a kick
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Can substitute with crushed crackers or oats
  • 1/4 cup milk For creamier texture, add extra milk
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, ketchup, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Layer half of the meat mixture in a baking dish, followed by half of the cooked macaroni and half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to create layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until meat is cooked through and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Perfectly serves with steamed veggies or a simple salad. For added flavor, consider crispy bacon bits or extra cheese on top.
