Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a pan, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until cooked through; drain excess fat.
Layering
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
- Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream of mushroom soup over the beef.
- Repeat the layers: remaining potatoes, beef, and soup.
- Top with shredded cheese.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For the best results, grease the baking dish well. You can enhance the flavor by adding garlic or herbs.
