Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Topping
  • 1 package Hershey's Kisses, for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until slightly set.
  2. Immediately press a Hershey's Kiss into the center of each cookie after removing from the oven.
  3. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough if too sticky. Swap almond extract for peppermint extract for a holiday twist. Adjust the food coloring for your desired hue. You can add chocolate chips for extra flavor or try white chocolate Kisses on top.
