  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage You can choose to use either ground beef or sausage based on preference.
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage Adds richness and flavor to the appetizers.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to add more cheese for extra cheesiness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package cocktail rye bread Rye bread is recommended for best flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain the excess fat.
  2. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well mixed.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Spread a slice of cocktail rye bread on a baking sheet and top each with the meat mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These appetizers keep well in the fridge for 3-4 days and can be frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven until warm and cheesy.
