Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 400 grams Firm tofu
  • 4 tablespoons Honey (or maple syrup for vegan option) Use maple syrup for vegan variant.
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame oil
  • 2 Green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil For frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Drain the tofu: Remove excess moisture by pressing it for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cube the tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. Mix the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil for the honey garlic sauce.
  4. Coat the tofu: Roll each tofu cube in cornstarch until evenly coated.
Cooking
  1. Heat it up: Sauté in vegetable oil over medium-high heat until crispy and golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. Drain the oil: Transfer the fried tofu onto a paper towel-lined plate to soak up excess oil.
  3. Simmer the sauce: Put the skillet back on medium heat, pour in the honey garlic sauce, and let it simmer for about a minute.
  4. Combine it: Gently toss the crispy tofu in the sauce to coat evenly.

Notes
