  • 400 grams firm tofu Press and drain to remove moisture
  • 4 tablespoons honey Use maple syrup for a vegan option
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Toast for extra flavor
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch For coating tofu
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds For garnish
  • 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying Adjust as needed for frying
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Drain and press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to create the honey garlic sauce.
  4. Coat each tofu cube evenly in cornstarch.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. Remove the fried tofu and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  3. Return the skillet to medium heat, pour in the honey garlic sauce, and let it simmer for about a minute.
  4. Add the crispy tofu to the sauce and gently toss to coat evenly.

Notes

Pressing is key to ensure crispiness! Adjust flavors in the sauce as desired. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to a month.
