Preparation
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time until mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe small lengths of dough onto parchment paper and freeze for about 10-15 minutes.
Cooking
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Place churro bites in the basket without touching.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
Coating and Serving
- In a bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon.
- Toss warm churro bites in the sugar-cinnamon mix immediately after cooking.
- Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or chocolate sauce.
Notes
Make sure to cut the dough evenly for even cooking. Chill properly before cooking to maintain shape. Try adding a splash of almond extract for extra flavor.
