  • 1 box Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup Butter Unsalted recommended
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Packed
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate
Optional Toppings
  • 1/2 cup Nuts Pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Candy canes Crushed
  • 1 tsp Sea salt For sprinkling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
Cooking
  1. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  2. Pour the melted mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until bubbly.
  4. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  5. Let it sit for a couple of minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle with nuts, crushed candy canes, or sea salt.
  7. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces and serving.

Notes

For the best crunch, allow the Christmas Crack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, in the fridge for longer freshness, or freeze for up to a month.
