  • 2 cups chow mein noodles Cook according to package instructions.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For stir-frying.
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, broccoli) Use fresh or frozen.
  • 1 cup protein (chicken, shrimp, or tofu, optional) Add your choice of protein.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Adds flavor to the dish.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce For added umami.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Enhances aroma and flavor.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Provides aromatic flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced Adds a fresh kick.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Toss in the mixed vegetables and protein (if using) to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, followed by the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together to combine.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider serving with spring rolls, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, or a side of sweet chili sauce. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for about a month. To reheat, use a splash of water to revive the noodles.
