Meatball Mixture
  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Can be substituted with vegan Parmesan for vegan option.
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Toasting enhances flavor.
  • 1 large egg
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Assembly
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Use leftover sauce for dipping.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Can substitute with sub rolls or sliced Italian bread.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Use dairy-free cheese for vegan option.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet, cook meatballs until browned on all sides.
  2. Add marinara sauce to the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
Assembly
  1. Place hoagie rolls on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with meatballs and sauce.
  2. Top with mozzarella cheese and toast in the oven until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 10 minutes.
  3. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze for about 2 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
