Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup rice (uncooked)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, rice, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the cabbage is tender.
  6. Adjust seasoning as needed and serve hot.

Notes

You can swap in chicken or vegetable broth for a lighter flavor. Add bell peppers or carrots for extra veggies. For heat, consider red pepper flakes or hot sauce. To make it vegan, use plant-based ground meat or lentils and vegetable broth.
