Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground beef or turkey Choose turkey for a leaner option.
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs if necessary.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese Freshly grated is best.
  • 1 Egg Bind the meat mixture.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
For Assembly
  • 12 oz Spaghetti Cook according to package instructions.
  • 24 oz Marinara sauce Divided.
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese Shredded.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil For browning meatballs.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the ground meat with breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Form into meatballs.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides.
  2. In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce. Add the cooked spaghetti and meatballs on top. Pour remaining marinara sauce over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  3. Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  4. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the garlic before adding it to the meatballs. Swap ground beef for ground turkey for a leaner dish. Vegetables like spinach or zucchini can be added for nutrition.
