  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Feel free to add a pinch of nutmeg for added warmth.
For the crumble topping
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Can substitute with coconut oil for a vegan option.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, melted butter, and salt to create the crumble topping.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble over the apples evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  2. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven before serving. For a chunkier topping, do not over-mix the crumble ingredients.
